Prehistoric Standing Stone Clock! |
A discovery of international significance has been made in the north of Norwich. Local antiquarians have identified a prehistoric stone circle located under the flyover next to Anglia Square. Mr. Pariah Greengrass of the 'Ragged Society of Antiquarian Ramblers' (RSAR) describes it thus:
"A find of international significance! The dating evidence would seem to suggest that this remarkable survivor is around 5,000 years old. The stones themselves are concrete - which just goes to show that the ancient folk had technologies beyond anything we had hitherto imagined. Our current understanding of the purpose of the structure is that it was a clock; however, sadly, the hands do not survive. This astonishing find leads us to believe that they must have had a stone calendar nearby, and - despite the best efforts of the baser sort of angry security staff at Anglia Square! - Society members are currently undertaking a number of exploratory trenches in order to locate it. "
The Trumpington Bugle has contacted the Norfolk Archaeological Unit but, as yet, we are still awaiting a response.
You people make me very angry!
ReplyDeleteEditor,
ReplyDeleteIn seeking to view this antient monument I approached the Anglia Square area (known to me as 'Stump Cross') when a group of young rowdies, seeming much amused at my attire, did most rudely berate me. Thus, fleeing in fear, I am afraid to tread therein again to view this stranded treasure.
Could we perhaps approach the authorities and organise some sort of curfew or cull. What's the world coming to when a chap is unable to wear his plus-fours and deerstalker without harrassment and intimidation!
Oh, erm, sorry about that, mate, we were in the middle of a round of Hawkquest, Revenge of The Arcadian Order, and we thought you was The BridgeMaster Sejanus. Wondered why you didn't deploy yer Caruthus Shield. No hard ones, eh?
